Man tries to lure kids with ice cream at park
Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log.
Aug. 16
There were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.
There were at least 4 reports of nonresidential burglary including one armed robbery on this day.
Firearm stolen: A .410 shotgun was reported stolen from a vehicle at 5 p.m. Aug. 15 at the 31500 block of Pete von Reichbauer Way South.
Assault: A store employee reported that he was pushed by a customer at 1:40 p.m. after a verbal altercation at the 35600 block of Pacific Highway South. There were no injuries or medical attention needed.
Road rage: A reported incident of road rage at 5:15 p.m. at the 29600 block of Pacific Highway resulted in the suspect pointing a gun at the reporting party. The suspect has not been located.
Aug. 17
There were at least 3 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day, including 1 of a trailer.

Aug. 19
There were at least 4 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.
Aug. 20
There were at least 7 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day
Vehicle collision: A single vehicle collision at 7:15 a.m. on the 100 block of Southwest Dash Point Road resulted in a DUI arrest.
Attempted car chase: Police attempted a traffic stop over signs of intoxication and a vehicle pursuit was authorized after the driver did not yield. Resources were not available to pursue and it was therefore terminated. 8:40 a.m. 336000 block of Weyerhaeuser Way South.
Burglary: A forced entry burglary from a shed resulted in over $2,600 of items stolen.
Assault: A 911 caller reported that their mother was assaulted at 4:40 p.m. while sitting in the passenger seat of their vehicle with the door open at the 31400 block of Pacific Highway South. The suspect fled.
Collision: A vehicle collision across the lane divider at the 37300 block of Pacific Highway South resulted in a driver and passenger in critical condition at 8:30 p.m. The driver of the second vehicle was uninjured.
Aug. 21
There were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day
Property theft: A reported property theft from a vehicle caused a loss of $10,000 worth of work tools at 4:30 a.m. at the 30800 block of 7th Avenue Southwest.
Property theft: A 16-foot trailer with approximately $90,000 of equipment was stolen at midnight at the 1300 block of South 308 Street.
Altercation: Mutual combat between parties occurred at 12:45 a.m. on the eastbound ramp of South 320th Street and I-5 North, but no one pressed charges.
Dispute: 2 neighbors got into a dispute over dog feces being left at a doorstep as well as a stolen package. No crime was found to be committed at the time.
Assault: A reporting party stated that he was punched with a closed fist at 10 p.m. outside his home on the 2200 block of South 336th Street after exchanging words with the suspect. The victim declined aid and there were no visible injuries.
Aug. 22
There were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day
Firearm theft: A bag containing a 9mm firearm loaded with 10 rounds and five additional magazines were reported stolen from the trunk of the reporting party’s car at 4 p.m. at the 32200 block of 1st Lane Southwest.
Harassment: A reporting party in an online filing said that for the second time in six months the security gate on their driveway was locked with a thick cable lock, essentially trapping them within their own property. The first time no signs were left, but this time a homophobic slur was written on the sign and a printed out photograph of a man who is unknown to the reporting parties. The cable lock was attached at some point between 9 p.m. Aug. 21 and 8 a.m. the following morning.
Aug. 23
There were at least 4 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day
Collision: A three-vehicle collision resulted in at least one fatality at 5:26 a.m. at the 6300 block of South 356th Street.
Theft: Two subjects stole a Safeway employee’s liquor key and work badge at the self checkout at midnight at 28800 block of Military Road South.
Robbery: A victim reported that he was robbed at 2:30 p.m. at the 17200 block of South 281st Place when he attempted to purchase a Playstation 5 that was listed on Facebook Marketplace.
Luring: A luring incident occurred at a park at the 31600 block of Pete von Reichbauer Way South at 5:30 p.m. An unknown male told children that he was their uncle and attempted to take them from the park by offering them ice cream in his car. Another child intervened and prevented the abduction. A male matching the description was located and arrested three days later on Aug. 26.
Fire: A fire was observed in the wooded area on the 1100 block of Southwest 329th Street at 7 p.m. The fire department reported that there had been pallets stacked on each other in the wooded area that were burning. It was extinguished without issue.
Aug. 24

There were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day
Burglary: Police responded to a report of a burglary at a convenience store on Pacific Highway South at 5 a.m. A red truck was used to ram the front door of the business and four suspects entered the store and took merchandise and money, then fled the scene.
Gunshots: At 3 p.m., gunshots were reported on South 340th Place. Nine spent bullet casings were recovered, and a car chasing a male on foot and exchanging fire are possible, according to the investigation.
Aug. 26
There were at least 4 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day
Aug. 27
There were at least 12 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day. Details of two of these reports are below.
Carjacking: A carjacking by three males at rifle-point was reported at 4:30 a.m. in a parking lot at 1600 Southwest Campus Drive. The license plate of the vehicle is currently unknown.
Handgun threat: A handgun was pointed at a male victim who confronted two suspects who were trying to steal his neighbor’s vehicle.
Burglary: A food truck was burglarized overnight and electronic items were stolen at the 28700 block of Military Road South. There is no suspect information at this time.
Shoplifting: A male who was arrested for shoplifting at the Commons mall was determined to be in possession of a handgun illegally.
Malicious mischief: A suspect was arrested after throwing large rocks and pieces of asphalt into traffic at the 3000 block of South 320th Street at 4:30 p.m.
Robbery: A group of juveniles reported that they had been jumped at the Commons mall at 8:30 p.m. They reported that the suspects had a knife, one had pepper spray and one had a gun. The report states that surveillance footage makes it appear that the groups of juveniles knew each other. Aid cleared the victims medically at the scene.
Aug. 28
There were at least 4 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day
Theft: A bicycle was reported stolen from a restaurant parking lot at 7 a.m. at the 23000 block of South 320th Street.
Burglary: A cash register was stolen from a business located on the 27200 block of Pacific Highway with the possible involvement of an older model white truck.
Pill: A child was unresponsive after ingesting a partial blue M-30 (consistent with fentanyl pill) .
Kids and guns: Four juveniles were initially found unconscious in a vehicle, one with a firearm on their lap. The juveniles were detained without incident and 2 firearms were retrieved.
Assault: An employee of a restaurant was sexually assaulted and unlawfully imprisoned by her manager at work at 9:20 p.m.
Theft: A victim reported that about $20,000 worth of property was stolen from her storage unit at 2 a.m. in the 20100 block of Southwest 356th Street
Drive-by shooting: Probable cause has been established for a drive-by shooting / malicious mischief at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Handgun threat: A male in a reportedly stolen vehicle pointed a handgun at a victim after the victim confronted the man for stealing his vehicle at approximately 6:40 p.m. at the 33200 block of Pacific Highway South.
Aug. 29
There were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day
Threat with chainsaw: A man was chasing another man with a chainsaw at the 33700 block of 1st Place South at approximately midnight. The man with the chainsaw was involuntarily committed.
